Water Pressure Consideration When Buying A Pressure Washer

(Last Updated On: April 27, 2020)

You will be surprised to know that the rate of water flow or water pressure determines the cleaning capacity of a pressure washer. If there is grease on stainless steel cleaning, it will require a different pressure as compared to aluminum or iron. In the same way, if you want to remove some paint from stainless steel, the requirement of pressure will be different. You have to understand the following things about the water pressure of the pressure washer.

Measurement In Gallons per minute (GPM) & PSI

The pressure washer, which is capable of giving out a higher rate of water flow, is suitable for cleaning. It is the key to get the cleaning job done efficiently and effectively. The rate of water flow also determines how much time a cleaning task will take. You have to determine how much pressure would be required for a specific cleaning job. It is simple as you have to multiply PSI with GPM, and the rate of water flow will come out as a result. You also have to keep the size of the pressure washer in mind before considering the pressure of water. If you are cleaning a sturdy surface, the high level of GPM is required, but for a regular cleaning task at home, regular GPM will work. One more critical thing you have to know is that if the PSI is high, the rate of water flow in that particular pressure washer will also be high.

Nozzle Tips

There are different types of nozzle tips attached to each pressure washer, and sometimes they are given as an additional accessory too. Each nozzle tip will provide a different level of water pressure to the user. Most of the nozzle tips start with tip 0 and range within 15 degrees, 25 degrees, and 40 degrees. Apart from the nozzle tips, there is a full 65-degree spray fan which controls the pressure of water as well. There is a soap applicator nozzle tip where you can put detergent or soap for cleaning. You are advised to use the nozzle tips according to your requirements. If you are not able to understand them all, it will be better to check out the manual. While following the instructions, you can get to know about the working of each nozzle. There are different types of pressure washers in the market, and they all have different PSI and GPM. They don’t offer all kinds of nozzles, though, and it’s up to you which washer you want to purchase. You have to adjust the nozzles according to your cleaning requirements.

Water Pressure Of Electric & Gas Pressure Washer

The most important thing you have to know is that the water pressure of the electric and gas pressure washer is different from each other. Gas pressure washer provides high pressure of water while the electric pressure washer delivers a lesser flow of water. As far as price is concerned, gas pressure washer is more expensive than the electric pressure washer.
